What is a counselor?

A counselor is a trained professional who listens, asks questions, and helps you feel safe as you deal with a variety of life's challenges.

A counselor can also help you gain insight and perspective, offer you a way to express your feelings, help you develop effective communication patterns, and stay with you on your journey as you begin to look for meaning in pain, loss, depression, anger, trauma, anxiety, or other uncomfortable emotions and life experiences.

In the counseling relationship, you are the expert. Your counselor is your partner in your process of reaching your goals.
